Black Day

A black day is a day when something very bad or sad happens. You can see how this expression is used in the following 2011 news headlines:

22 November: a Black Day in History
- bizcommunity.com, 21 November 2011, Chris Moerdyk
A Black Day for Heritage: Burning the Egyptian Scientific Institute
- en.cybrarians.info, 17 December 2011

Both of the articles refer to unpleasant and sad events: the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy and the burning of the Egyptian Scientific Institute in Cairo. Another example of a
black day is March 11, 2011 - the day upon which a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan and triggered a 23-foot tsunami. Can you think of some other examples of black days?
